• In 1833, the birth of the corporation of distillers of plants for perfume led to the development of
a corporation of boilermakers, whose expertise extended to the manufacture of stills. Joseh Tournaire practiced his craft in a modest 40 m2 workshop in Grasse.
• In 1900, Gustave Tournaire, an engineer who had graduated from the Arts & Métiers School, moved the firm to Font-Laugière. On 600 m2, he continued to manufacture stills for Grasse, for French liquor brewers, and for European perfumers, and also added a very attractive range of red tinplated copper drums.
• In 1960, the firm abandoned its semi-crafted production of copper drums and moved on to the semi-industrial production of monobloc aluminum drums.
At the same time, Marcel Tournaire started to construct
a factory on 28 000 m2 of land in Plan-de-Grasse.
• In 2003, the company employed a workforce of 210 in plant covering 15 000 m2. Stainless steel and aluminum had replaced the copper of the equipment and containers respectively, but Tournaire S.A.'s exports around the globe blossomed thanks to the company's bywords: "quality" and "service".
